War veterans have joined the nation in mourning Blessed Runesu “Cde Bombshell” Geza, describing his death as a major loss to the country’s liberation legacy.
Geza, died in South Africa yesterday after a period of illness.
His passing has triggered an outpouring of grief across political and civic circles, with many remembering him as a fearless voice against corruption and social injustice.
Speaking to AfroGazette, the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) faction leader Andreas Ethan Mathibela said Geza’s death had robbed Zimbabwe of a principled fighter who remained loyal to the values of the liberation struggle long after the guns fell silent.
“Zimbabwe has lost a patriot…Cde Geza’s life was defined by courage, conviction, and an unwavering love for his country,” Mathibela said.
“Cde Geza’s life was defined by courage, conviction, and an unwavering love for his country.
“Even when silence would have been easier, he chose to speak out against corruption and nepotism.
“He did so out of deep patriotism and a desire to see Zimbabwe live up to the ideals for which so many sacrificed everything.”

He extended condolences to the Geza family, urging them to find comfort in the nation’s recognition of his service and sacrifice.
“His passing leaves a void, but his message remains a call to conscience,” he added.
“History has gained a courageous witness.”
Geza, a former freedom fighter and outspoken activist, built a reputation for challenging excesses in public office and demanding integrity from national leaders.
