Children of Liberation War Veterans Association have urged Blessed Geza, the then vice-chairperson of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA), to engage in peaceful dialogue with President Emmerson Mnangagwa to resolve conflicts.
This call comes amidst reports of a rift between the war veterans and the President.
Speaking during a conference, Phineas Makombe, national executive chairperson of the Zimbabwe Children of Liberation War Veterans Association, emphasized the importance of dialogue over violence and division.
“We reject any attempts to tarnish the President’s character and encourage dialogue over violence and division,” Makombe said.
“We urge Cde Geza and others in the same situation to engage in peaceful dialogue with the President, who has always shown a willingness to listen and resolve issues in a constructive manner.”
Makombe also highlighted the Association’s commitment to supporting the welfare of war veterans, which is a legacy issue rooted in the failure of the British government to compensate them properly.

“We will not allow our parents to be manipulated for political gain, and we will stand firm against those who seek to destroy the peace we have fought for,” he added.
The Association also seeks recognition and support for the welfare of children of war veterans.
Makombe requested that the President extend his benevolence to them by allocating resources and allowing them to benefit from projects such as the MunhuMutapa Housing Project.
Meanwhile, Makombe emphasized the importance of unity and collective defense of the country’s sovereignty.
“We remain resolute in defending our country, its leadership, and our collective interests as children of war veterans,” he said.
