Gauteng Teacher Arrested for Assaulting Grade 10 Learner – A Grade 10 learner from Soweto, South Africa, is recovering after allegedly being assaulted and s€xually har@ssed by his Mathematics teacher, leading to her arrest.

Police confirmed that 30-year-old Miss Deliwe Chantel Phehli was arrested after she allegedly grabbed Denzel Mhlongo, accusing him of stealing her iPhone 13.

Witnesses say the teacher held the boy by the neck and searched him in front of other pupils.

It was later confirmed that the phone had been left in the teachers’ toilets.

During the forced search, the teacher allegedly grabbed the learner’s private parts.

The ordeal left the learner traumatised, and he later went missing briefly.

He was found by a foreign national selling ironing boards, who safely returned him home. The good Samaritan was rewarded R100,000 by the family.

Denzel’s mother, Mrs Lorreta Mhlongo, a District Manager in the Department of Education, opened the case.

Police spokesperson CST Ngcobo said:

“We have finally made an arrest and we’ll make sure justice is served for the young boy. This case is not simple as people see it. This assault is very disturbing to minors. These cases are serious ones which don’t include a fine but jail time.”
