Four-year-old Girl’s Dead Body Found In Suitcase
NONHLE Matsebula is set to appear in the Protea Magistrates Court on Friday, September 27, facing charges related to the tragic death of four-year-old Keeya Mbulawa.
The young girl was found strangled, with her body stuffed in a suitcase.
Matsebula’s court appearance comes after a postponement due to an outstanding postmortem report.
On Friday, the court will determine whether the case will proceed in the Protea Regional Court or the High Court, based on the decision of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Families of both the Serongwane and Mbulawa households are anxiously awaiting the DPP’s final decision regarding the trial’s venue.
Keeya was reportedly strangled and poisoned before her body was concealed in a suitcase. She died from her injuries after fighting for her life in the ICU for four days.
Last seen playing with friends on Saturday, January 13, 2024, Keeya disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Her unconscious body was found later that day, with Matsebula allegedly seen loading the suitcase into a vehicle in an attempt to flee.
A resident spotted Matsebula in Protea Glen and promptly notified the police, leading to her apprehension. The news of Keeya’s death sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many in disbelief that a trusted family acquaintance could be responsible for such a horrific act.
Emotions are high as the community grapples with the tragic loss and the circumstances surrounding it.
