The vehicle subsequently veered off the road and plunged into a ditch.
Rescue teams responded swiftly to the scene, where several passengers were found trapped inside the wreckage.

The latest tragedy comes amid growing concern over safety along this stretch of the N1. In October 2025, a devastating bus accident occurred on nearly the same section of the Tshambudzi Valley, resulting in 43 fatalities and leaving many others injured.
That incident was reportedly linked to overloading and excessive speed, with the bus veering off the mountainous road and down an embankment.
Limpopo’s MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye, is expected to visit the accident scene later today to assess the situation, oversee ongoing response efforts, and brief the media.
Local authorities have pledged a comprehensive investigation as the province grapples with yet another deadly crash along the N1 corridor.
