Former Deputy Finance Minister David Chapfika Dies in Car Crash

Former Deputy Finance Minister and veteran Zanu PF politician David Chapfika has died at the age of 68.
Chapfika reportedly lost his life after his vehicle veered off a bridge and overturned in a shallow river.
He once served as Deputy Minister of Finance under the late President Robert Mugabe, and was also a legislator for Mutoko South as well as chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Finance and Economic Development.

This is not the first time Chapfika’s name has trended online due to reports of his death. In 2021, false claims circulated that he had succumbed to COVID-19 complications.
Those rumours were later debunked.
