A 26-year-old man from Pumula South in Bulawayo has been jailed for five years for stabbing his biological father five times after he stopped him from raping his niece.
The man appeared before the Western Comorage Court charged with attempted murder.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), on March 23 this year, the man wanted to rape his cousin, who is the complainant’s niece.
The court heard that the niece, in an attempt to save herself, sought refuge in the plaintiff’s bedroom.
The man followed the niece into her father’s bedroom carrying a kitchen knife.
NPAZ said that when his father tried to restrain him and stop him from attacking his niece, the man attacked and stabbed the first girl five times.
The father escaped and sought help from his neighbor.
A police report was made and the man was subsequently arrested.
