Family in Shock as Rats Allegedly Eat Parts of Corpse at Prestige Morgue

CAMEROON – A shocking incident unfolded today at Prestige Morgue in Babadjou Subdivision, when a family arrived for a corpse removal ceremony only to discover that parts of their loved one’s body were missing.
The deceased, Tedongmo Agnes (48) had been placed at the facility for post-mortem care, but sections of her face and thigh were found damaged.
“We left my wife’s body here on April 1 in perfect condition. Now, parts of her body are missing and the morgue keeper claims rats are responsible.
How is that possible?” questioned a distraught Simeon Lepontouo, the husband of the deceased.
Local authorities swiftly launched an investigation, with gendarmes from Babadjou deployed to determine the cause of the damage.
Morgue officials have remained silent, fueling speculation—some suspect animal intrusion, while others question possible supernatural involvement.
According to a report by Cameroon News Agency, the morgue, which has been operational for just over a year, utilizes a state-of-the-art dry body preservation system and no similar incidents had been reported before.
Management has pledged full cooperation with investigators to clarify the circumstances. Meanwhile, the family awaits forensic analysis to determine what truly happened.
