Fake Sir Wicknell spents $100 in bogus house & car deal

Fake Sir Wicknell spents $100 in bogus house & car deal – A Harare woman, identified as Patience, has become the latest victim of a scam involving fraudsters impersonating businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo.

She lost $100 after being lured into a fake deal promising a house and a truck.

Investigations by circulating reports revealed a network of scammers operating under Chivayo’s name, mainly targeting victims through social media.

The fraudster initially contacted Patience via Facebook, pretending to be the well-known entrepreneur.

After gaining her trust, they directed her to a WhatsApp number supposedly linked to Chivayo.

In the conversations seen by Afrogazette, the scammer claimed that Patience needed to send $240 to process the documents for the promised truck and house.

Since she couldn’t afford the full amount, she transferred $100 instead.

However, soon after making the payment, the fraudster’s number was switched off, leaving her with no way to reach them.

Authorities have since warned the public to be extra cautious when dealing with online offers that seem too good to be true.

They advise verifying any financial transactions before making payments, especially when dealing with individuals posing as public figures.
