Fake Robbery Masterminds Sentenced to 12 Months

ZVISHAVANE – Biana Madzudzu(26) and her brother Givemore Madzudzu (37) have been convicted of theft at the Zvishavane Magistrate Court after stealing $18,200 in cash and fuel coupons from DA Motors Service Station in Zvishavane.
According to State papers, the siblings staged a fake armed robbery on February 23, 2025, as part of an elaborate scheme. Biana, who was a supervisor at DA Motors, pretended to be attacked at knife point and handed over the money to her brother.
However, investigations by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) revealed that the robbery was staged.
Police arrested the siblings and recovered US$12,258 in cash, fuel coupons and other stolen items hidden in the Kandodo and Zuderberg mountains.
The court sentenced each sibling to 36 months in prison, with 12 months suspended for good behavior and another 12 months suspended on condition they pay $US 3,500 restitution.
As a result, each sibling will serve an effective 12-month jail term.
