Explosives Backfire! Suspect Loses Leg in Foiled CIT Heist

SOUTH AFRICA – A failed cash-in-transit (CIT) heist in Tokoza on Tuesday morning ended in disaster when a suspect lost his leg after an explosive detonation attempt went wrong.
The ten-member gang fled the scene without taking any money.
Gauteng police spokesperson Capt Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed that the suspects rammed a cash van at Phola Park Extension 5, Tokoza, using a silver BMW before attempting to blow it open.
However, the plan backfired, causing severe injury to one of the suspects.
Authorities are investigating armed robbery and attempted murder, as the suspects showed clear intent to harm security personnel protecting the van.
According to SowetanLive, the group escaped using three vehicles, abandoning the BMW they used in the attack.
Police have not made any arrests yet, but forensic evidence and surveillance footage are being analyzed as investigators work to track down the suspects.
