Epworth Woman Stabs Husband Over Debt, Injures Landlord in Frenzied Attack

Epworth Woman Stabs Husband Over Debt, Injures Landlord in Frenzied Attack – Residents of Epworth were left horrified this week after a domestic dispute over an unpaid loan spiralled into violence, leaving a man’s intestines protruding and a landlord nursing a hand injury.

Police confirmed the arrest of 31-year-old Tafadzwa Mandaza, who allegedly stabbed her husband Abraham Chirivhayo (35) following a heated argument about money owed to a local loan shark.

According to witnesses, Mandaza demanded that her husband hand over his wages to settle the debt, but when he refused, she attempted to sell household items to raise the money.

The dispute escalated when Chirivhayo tried to stop her, prompting Mandaza to grab a kitchen knife and stab him in the abdomen.

As Chirivhayo collapsed, their landlord, only identified as Manene, rushed in to help but was also slashed on the hand.

“She was uncontrollable,” said neighbour Esther Makandiona, describing the chaotic scene. “We had to tie her to a tree while waiting for police. It was terrifying — she looked like someone possessed.”

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest, saying Chirivhayo was rushed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

The couple, who reportedly lead a Johanne Masowe Yenguwotsvuku sect from their home, had a history of marital disputes.

Mandaza remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court soon.
