A 33-year-old man from Epworth has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Harare Regional Magistrates’ Court after being found guilty of sexually abusing his 8-year-old niece, who is still a Grade 2 pupil at a local school.
According to the court, the incident happened in 2024 when the girl was asleep in the kitchen.
The offender entered the room to have his supper and later took advantage of the situation, leading to the offence.
The matter only came to light on 2 February 2025 when the young girl began displaying unusual behavior when she sneaked into her brother’s blankets and removed her clothes.
