Elderly Man’s Body Burnt Beyond Recognition: Duo Gets 25-Year Sentence

The body of an 89-year-old man was burned beyond recognition in a horrifying act of cruelty that has left the nation in shock.
The High Court of Zimbabwe in Hwange has sentenced Events Ncube (31) and Keylop Ncube (22) to 25 years in prison for the brutal murder of Sibusisiwe Dube, a crime the court described as barbaric and inhumane.
According to State papers, on April 1, 2024, Dube had been at Maphosa Business Centre enjoying beer with friends.
As he left the gathering around 7 PM, the accused followed him, attacking him with an axe and delivering a fatal blow to his head.
The pair then transported his body home on a scotch-cart.
In a calculated move to destroy evidence, they placed the body in the kitchen hut and set it on fire.
The remains, burnt beyond recognition, were discovered the following morning, sparking widespread grief and outrage in the community.
The presiding judge condemned the act, stating, “Such barbaric acts must be met with firm justice.” While the sentence brings some closure, it cannot erase the pain and loss felt by Dube’s family and friends.
