Eight Roman Catholic Members Die in Hwange Road Accident – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a fatal road traffic accident which claimed the lives of eight Roman Catholic Church members at Deka Bridge along Deka Road in Hwange.

According to police, the tragic accident occurred on Saturday morning, at around 7AM.

In a statement, the ZRP said the victims were travelling in a kombi from night prayers when the vehicle reportedly plunged into Deka Bridge.

“Eight Roman Catholic members died when their kombi plunged into the bridge as they were coming from night prayers,” the police said.

Authorities confirmed that there were 13 occupants in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, while details regarding the identities of the deceased and the condition of the survivors are yet to be released.

“The accident occurred on 23/05/26 at 0700 hours. The vehicle had 13 occupants. More details to be released soon,” read part of the ZRP statement.

More details are expected to be released as investigations continue.
