Dru_g Dealers Busted for Selling ‘Weed Biscuits’

Dru_g Dealers Busted for Selling ‘Weed Biscuits’ – Zimbabwean authorities have intensified their crackdown on dru_g-related crimes, recently uncovering a new method used by dealers to distribute illicit substances.

Instead of the previously known tricks of infusing marijuana into other baked items and popcorn, criminals are now lacing biscuits with dru_gs and selling them to the public.

According to Herald, the latest operation led to the arrest of seven suspects in a bushy area along the Mukuvisi River near Matapi Flats in Mbare, Harare.

Police recovered packets of dru_g-laced biscuits, several sachets of marijuana (mbanje), and bottles of Broncleer, a cough syrup commonly abused as a dru_g.

National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrests.

“On March 12, 2025, police in Harare arrested seven suspects for unlawful possession of Broncleer, dagga, and biscuits laced with drugs,” he stated. The individuals taken into custody were identified as Takunda Wayne (18), Monga Ndava (40), Berven Kepekepe (32), Bezel Marundira, Timothy Takavaedza, Tawanda Tembo, and Pedzisai Mutasa.

Investigations are now underway to determine the extent of the biscuit distribution network and whether unsuspecting members of the public were affected.

While officials believe the primary buyers were known dru_g users in Harare, concerns remain that some of these biscuits may have ended up in the wrong hands.

Authorities are urging citizens to be cautious when purchasing biscuits and to closely monitor children’s food choices.

Schools have also been advised to be extra vigilant and inspect pupils’ snacks.
