Driver Jailed 28 Months After Fatal Airport Road Crash Killed One Passenger

A 42-year-old Epworth man, Ishmael Nyamadzayo, has been convicted of culpable homicide after a horrific Airport Road crash that killed one passenger and injured seven others.
The accident occurred on 27 November 2024, when Nyamadzayo lost control of a Mercedes Benz Sprinter opposite Commando Barracks. The vehicle veered off the road, struck a pavement, overturned, and left a trail of destruction.
Investigators said Nyamadzayo was negligent on multiple fronts:
-
Failed to stop or take action when danger became imminent
-
Failed to maintain proper control of the vehicle
-
Travelled at an excessive speed
The court sentenced him to 40 months, with 12 months suspended, leaving an effective 28-month jail term. His driver’s licence was cancelled.
Authorities reminded the public that road safety remains a national priority, and reckless drivers will face firm legal consequences.
