Drake Wins Big After $770,000 World Cup Bet on Canada – Canadian rapper Drake is trending after placing a massive sports wager on his home nation during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Grammy-winning artist reportedly staked approximately US$770,000 (about N1.07 billion) on Canada to defeat South Africa in their Round of 32 clash.
The bet, placed through the Stake platform, carried a potential payout of around US$1 million.

Stake, with which Drake maintains a public partnership, revealed details of the high-profile wager on Sunday.
Drake also sparked conversation online after referencing playful exchanges with South African DJ Black Coffee, writing: “#realblackcoffee was chirping in the DM. I had to raise my stakes.”
The match ended in Canada’s favour after a late winner secured a 1-0 victory over South Africa, resulting in South Africa’s elimination from the tournament.
Drake is well known for his high-stakes betting history across multiple sports, including the NFL, NBA, UFC, and international football.
While he has occasionally enjoyed major wins, he has also suffered notable losses, such as his US$300,000 wager on Canada to beat Argentina in the 2024 Copa América semifinals, and a US$1 million bet on Argentina to win the 2022 World Cup final in 90 minutes.
