The Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) has conferred the 2025 Exceptional Marketing Award on seasoned telecoms executive and ESG advocate, Dr. Prosper Mutswiri, in recognition of his nearly 20 years of transformative leadership in Zimbabwe’s corporate space.
Dr. Mutswiri, the Marketing and Corporate Business Manager at Powertel, was celebrated for spearheading innovative customer-centric strategies that have reshaped the telecommunications and energy sectors.
Among his notable achievements is the creation of the ZESA Group’s Digital Garage, a multi-platform customer experience hub serving over 1.3 million users nationwide.
His strategic leadership has also seen the successful rebranding of major telecom firms Africom and Powertel, as well as the rollout of groundbreaking services such as Guroo and PowerTrack, credited with boosting efficiency and revenues.
Speaking after receiving the award, Dr. Mutswiri said the recognition was a testament to purpose-driven innovation and long-term dedication to marketing excellence.
“Marketing, to me, has always been about impact impact on people, communities, and industries.

“Recognition from peers validates the purpose-driven work we strive to do every day,” he said.
Over the years, Dr. Mutswiri has left an indelible mark through iconic campaigns including RBZ’s Zero to Hero, CBZ’s A-Academy, and jingles for Air Zimbabwe and Nestlé.
Beyond corporate boardrooms, he lectures at leading institutions and drives sustainable rural projects as director of the Buhera Development Forum.
Industry peers say his focus on ESG and sustainability sets him apart as one of the country’s most forward-thinking executives.
This latest accolade adds to his impressive track record, which includes being named Top Young Manager of the Year by the Zimbabwe Institute of Management in 2013/14 and 2017.
Dr. Mutswiri’s recognition at the MAZ Awards cements his reputation as a trailblazer blending creativity, strategy, and social impact in shaping Zimbabwe’s business landscape.
