Dominican Politician Dies Days After Donating Blood to Nightclub Disaster Victims

SANTO DOMINGO – A Dominican politician, Wilmy Nova, has recently passed away days after donating blood to victims of the tragic Jet Set Nightclub roof collapse in Santo Domingo.

Nova, a member of the Social Justice Party, visited a Red Cross center the day after the disaster, urging young people in his party to contribute to the urgent blood donation drive.

However, reports indicate that he recently suffered a fatal heart attack.

The nightclub collapse, which occurred during a concert by renowned musician Rubby Pérez, claimed the lives of over 100 people and left more than 150 others injured.

Emergency services responded swiftly, but the high number of casualties left the nation in mourning.

Among the victims were prominent figures, including Governor Nelsy Cruz, former Major League Baseball players Octavia Dotel and Tony Blanco and several other attendees.

According to the Daily Mail, a UK-based publication, Nova’s family stated that he had untreated anemia before donating blood, raising concerns about whether his health condition contributed to his death.

However, former Santo Domingo councilwoman Elin Rosario alleges possible foul play, stating that Nova may have been physically assaulted by police officers.

Rosario questioned why a person with anemia was allowed to donate blood and insisted that his death was not natural.

Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine the official cause of death.

Witnesses at the nightclub described a blackout moments before the roof collapsed, intensifying the chaos as attendees scrambled to escape.

Authorities estimate that between 500 and 1,000 people were in the venue when the collapse occurred.

The government has vowed to investigate the tragedy, while the Dominican community continues to mourn the devastating loss.
