Domestic Worker Sentenced to 30 Years for Rape of 7-Year-Old Girl
A 20-year-old domestic worker has been sentenced to an effective 30 years in prison by the Mutare Regional Magistrates’ Court after being found guilty of the brutal sexual assault of a 7-year-old girl in Odzi.
The incident occurred on December 13, 2025, in the Chief Marange area, where the offender was employed by the victim’s father and lived in the same household.
The assailant targeted the Grade 2 student while she was alone in the dining room watching television.
He entered the home, undressed, and ordered the young girl to do the same. When she resisted, he threatened her and subsequently raped her on a sofa.
The abuse came to light the following day when the victim’s sister noticed that the girl was having difficulty walking and urinating.
Upon questioning, the victim revealed the details of the assault, and bloodstains were later discovered on her clothing.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) has reiterated its firm stance against child sexual abuse.
They urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant, even when it comes to trusted individuals employed in the home.
