Cristiano Ronaldo Set to Marry Georgina Rodriguez Next Summer
Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancée Georgina Rodriguez are planning to marry in a Christian ceremony on his home island of Madeira next summer, according to reports from Jornal da Madeira.
The couple will exchange vows at Funchal Cathedral after the 2026 World Cup, with a reception scheduled at a luxury hotel nearby. This venue holds personal significance for Ronaldo, as it is just 1.5 miles from the hospital where he was born and three miles from the base of the youth team he played for, Nacional da Madeira.
Ronaldo, 40, and Rodriguez revealed their engagement in August after being together for over nine years. He shared details about his spontaneous proposal, which included a £1.5 million ring.
“It was around 1 a.m. while my daughters were asleep,” Ronaldo told Piers Morgan. “A friend gave me the ring, and as I was about to propose, my kids walked in and said, ‘Daddy, you’re going to ask Mum to marry you.’ That moment felt right, even though I hadn’t planned it.”
He described his proposal as simple and unplanned. “I’m not the most romantic guy,” he admitted, “but it was a beautiful moment. I knew she was the one for me.”
The couple has five children together, including two daughters—Alana Martin and Bella Esmeralda—with two more kids, Cristiano Jr., Eva, and Mateo from previous relationships. They also faced the heartbreaking loss of their newborn son, Angel, in 2022.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez began their relationship in 2016 when he played for Real Madrid. He emphasized that their wedding will be a private affair, respecting her preference for small gatherings.
“She didn’t care about the ring; she just wanted to know I was honest in my feelings,” he said, adding that he felt emotional during the proposal.
