COSAFA Women’s Championship 2025 Postponed Due to Absence of Host Nation

The 2025 COSAFA Women’s Championship has been postponed because the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) could not find a host country for the tournament.

In a statement from the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) on Monday, COSAFA announced that the decision was made due to the “current unavailability of a host nation” for this year’s event.

COSAFA is now working to find potential hosts, and the tournament is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2026. More information about the new dates and location will be provided later.

ZIFA expressed its support for COSAFA’s efforts to uphold the quality of women’s football in the Southern African region and looks forward to the rescheduled tournament.

“COSAFA is engaging potential hosts to ensure the successful delivery of the tournament, which is now expected to take place in the first quarter of 2026. Further details regarding the new dates and venue will be communicated in due course.

“ZIFA acknowledges and supports COSAFA’s commitment to maintaining the high standards of women’s football across the Southern African region and looks forward to the tournament’s rescheduled staging,” the statement read.
