Police arrested a Limpopo sergeant for six counts of murder, accusing her of killing community members to pocket R10 million in insurance payouts. Cop busted in murder-for-insurance scandal.

The 43-year-old officer, stationed at Senwabarwana, allegedly targeted vulnerable victims, including disabled and mentally challenged individuals, since 2019. She faced the arrest in full view of her colleagues and now heads to court on Friday.

This case shines a light on a rising trend of murders motivated by insurance claims. Daniel Mokwai faces charges for killing his son and two nephews to claim insurance money, while Segomotso Setshwantsho allegedly poisoned her son and niece and insured 40 family members.

Notorious serial killer Rosemary Ndlovu, serving six life sentences, killed family members and plotted more murders to collect insurance payouts.

Ndlovu also stands trial for conspiring with another policewoman to murder her husband for insurance. The hitmen, however, exposed the plot.
