Columbus Teacher Allegedly Hired Teen to Kill Husband for US$2,000

Ohio, U.S. — Demetrius, a Columbus high school teacher, allegedly offered a teenager US$2,000 to kill her husband, revealing a shocking murder-for-hire plot.
The disturbing scheme unraveled when the teenager’s mother discovered incriminating evidence on her son’s phone and reported it to police.
This discovery initiated an investigation that exposed the alleged plot.
Investigators uncovered a recorded conversation in which the 44-year-old teacher reportedly discussed payment details with the teenager.
Authorities stated that the teacher’s actions appeared to groom the teenager into committing the crime.
The motive for the alleged plot remains unclear, but court records from Franklin County reveal that Demetrius filed for divorce from her husband in September 2017.
The case was reopened in April 2024 after being initially closed and remains ongoing.
The Academy for Urban Scholars High School addressed the allegations, confirming Demetrius’ dismissal from her teaching position.
In a statement to The Independent, the school emphasized its commitment to student safety, stating, “Student safety is our top priority. We remain dedicated to providing a secure and focused learning environment for all students.”
Officials shared that counseling services are being provided to the teenager involved. Demetrius, released on a $150,000 surety bond, has been ordered to avoid contact with the teenager.
Her preliminary hearing, set for April 11, will likely shed more light on the allegations.
Efforts to contact Demetrius and her husband’s attorneys for comment were unsuccessful.
