Outspoken cleric Apostle Talent Chiwenga has lashed out at businessman Wicknell Chivhayo and the ruling ZANU-PF government, accusing them of orchestrating a grand deception through car giveaways while the country’s health system crumbles and citizens die in pain.
Chiwenga’s explosive comments come in the wake of the tragic death of sungura musician and physician Tatenda Pinjisi, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a recent road accident.
The late artist before his passing was heard pleading for painkillers in a video—a haunting cry that now echoes as a symbol of the broken public health system.
“A physician (Tatenda Pinjisi) who succumbed to accident injuries a few days ago, was asking for pain ease when he was hospitalised.
“I saw my brother Hopewell posting about it. He was heartbroken, and so was I.
“We have a corrupt individual (Wicknell Chivayo) throwing money around like confetti to buy silence, yet there are no painkillers in our hospitals.”
He held the ruling ZANU-PF party responsible for the tragedy and death in public hospitals, accusing them of having blood on their hands.

“In hospitals, they’re supposed to administer Tramadol, Morphine, something effective for accident injuries.
“But Tatenda, not being a medical practitioner, asked for what he knew. His death is on ZANU-PF’s hands. This is blood on their hands,” he said.
Apostle Chiwenga did not spare Wicknell Chivhayo, who has been distributing luxury vehicles to selected public figures in recent months—a move which has been denounced by many as designed to buy loyalty and silence dissent.
“The ZANU-PF agenda is clear, they give gifts to every influential person so they won’t question anything.
“But I say this today: Chivhayo cannot buy my soul,” Chiwenga declared.
He scoffed at the vehicles being handed out, comparing them to “tin, copper, aluminium, chrome, plastic and rubber wrapped up and decorated with a car logo.”
“I have owned the same Land Cruiser given to Ian Ndlovu since 2020. It’s not even my everyday car.
“The one I drive now can buy three of those. I’m not bragging. I’m responding to foolishness. I’m not poor, I’m not desperate, and I’m not for sale,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chiwenga also slammed the recent Independence Day celebrations in Gokwe as “a declaration of war on Zimbabweans,” claiming the hastily constructed stadium which costed a whooping $2 million reportedly fell apart before the event ended could have stocked government hospitals in Harare with medicine for two years.
“This government is not just corrupt. It’s a cult. A cult that thrives on blood. Innocent people must die each year to preserve their grip on power. That is why life means nothing to them,” he said.
He also took aim at Presidential Spokesperson George Charamba and preacher Ian Ndlovu, accusing them of selling out.
“I don’t know why Charamba thinks I’m like Ian. Maybe because I look humble. But I stand for something far more valuable than a car.”
