Chivayo Offers Thomas Mapfumo US$500,000 to Perform at Jah Prayzah’s Rumoured Wedding – Flamboyant businessman Wicknell Chivayo has pledged to pay music legend Thomas Mapfumo US$500,000 if he agrees to perform at the rumoured wedding of award-winning musician Jah Prayzah.
Chivayo made the announcement in a lengthy birthday tribute to Jah Prayzah, born Mukudzeyi Mukombe, praising him as Zimbabwe’s “Greatest of All Time” and celebrating his contribution to the country’s music industry.
As part of the birthday celebrations, Chivayo revealed that he had gifted Jah Prayzah a brand-new 2026 Ford Ranger Platinum and US$250,000 in cash.
He said the vehicle would be available for collection from Exquisite Car Dealership, describing the gifts as a token of appreciation for the musician’s talent, patriotism and continued promotion of Zimbabwean culture through music.
In his message, Chivayo also addressed widespread speculation that Jah Prayzah could be tying the knot in August.

He jokingly said he intended to “gatecrash” the wedding if he did not receive an invitation but added that the greatest gift he could offer would be to have Thomas Mapfumo perform at the ceremony.
Chivayo pledged to pay the Chimurenga music icon US$500,000 in cash for the performance should he accept the invitation.
He went on to say that if the wedding performance does not materialise, he would instead invite Mapfumo to perform at his own birthday celebration, where he would pay the veteran musician US$1 million.
According to Chivayo, such a performance would be a fitting way for the legendary artist to eventually retire from music “as a millionaire” while celebrating Zimbabwe’s rich Chimurenga music heritage.
Meanwhile, Chivayo’s remarks have coincided with the resurfacing of an old video featuring Thomas Mapfumo.
In the clip, the veteran musician was last year offered a house and a vehicle, but says material gifts would not change his convictions, insisting that he would remain true to his principles.
