Nyashadzashe Chivhadze (32) attacked Peter Mafunga (25) around 6 pm, striking him repeatedly with a log until he died, according to Masvingo Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa.

The confrontation began when Chivhadze, staying at his grandmother’s house, saw Peter walking past their homestead. Without warning, Chivhadze grabbed a log, approached Peter on the road, and savagely hit him all over his body before returning home.

Chivhadze’s nephew rushed to the scene but found Peter already dead. A police report was quickly filed, leading to Chivhadze’s arrest. Peter’s body, found bleeding from the mouth and nose, was taken to Chiredzi General Hospital for a postmortem.
