Social media is in uproar after former police officer and private investigator Tafadzwa Chidawa posted pictures of Zimdancehall star Blot, also known as Greenade, at his Matrix Drug Rehabilitation Centre.
What was intended as an inspiring “rehabilitation story” quickly spiralled into controversy, with critics saying the influencer used Blot’s pain for views rather than genuine help.
One outraged user, @mukuru101010 condemned the act, saying:
“I am disgusted by the fact that Tafadzwa Chidawa exploits other people’s struggles and pain for fame and money. Posting Blot for views is disgraceful. As a public figure, he should know better and not turn someone’s suffering into a pawn for his YouTube channel.”
Another user, K. Edwin Hymslf (@Tapiwa…), echoed similar sentiments:
“True… He really needs to be careful ne conduct iyi… Not good at all. Unfortunately, it’s the same nevaye exploiting people in church, recording their vulnerability to show they have powers.”

While some defended Chidawa’s intentions, others questioned his ethics, warning about the dangers of exposing vulnerable individuals especially minors on digital platforms.
Simple Simon (@ux_uncle) cautioned:
“The initiative may be well-intentioned, but his methods are concerning. Exposing minors to public scrutiny online can have negative consequences, such as employment or background check issues. Regulations are needed to ensure responsible execution and protect all parties involved.”
The outrage also took a political twist, with Khumbulani Twala (@A…) taking a jab at Zimbabwe’s leadership:
“Chidawa is the reason Fadzi Mahere urges us to seek new leaders.”
Others, like @pxhizombi, questioned the sincerity of Chidawa’s “rehabilitation” efforts altogether:
“Chidawa is not rehabilitating these individuals, that’s why most of them find their way back to drugs easily. We have no proper rehab facility in Zimbabwe. That so-called Matrix is a sick joke from ZANU PF drug cartels to you Zimbabweans who are losing kids to drugs.”
