Charlie Kirk, prominent conservative figure and supporter of former President Donald Trump, was fatally shot at a college event in Utah on Wednesday. The police believe the shooting was targeted.

Kirk was known for engaging college students in open debates on various issues, including transgender rights and climate change.

He co-founded Turning Point USA (TPUSA) at the age of 18, a group aimed at promoting conservative values on liberal college campuses. TPUSA has since expanded to over 850 schools.

Kirk’s influence grew through social media and his popular podcast, where he often discussed political topics. The event in Utah was part of a multi-campus tour for debate, but it ended tragically with his death.

In a statement, Trump expressed his condolences, calling Kirk “legendary” and praising his connection with American youth. Kirk played a significant role in mobilizing young voters for Trump, particularly in the 2020 election.

Kirk, who grew up in a wealthy suburb of Chicago, dropped out of community college to pursue political activism.

He was known for his public speaking and had millions of followers online. He also authored a book titled *The Maga Doctrine* in 2020.

Despite being a polarizing figure, Kirk was recognized for promoting dialogue. After his death, supporters emphasized his commitment to addressing differences through discussion rather than violence.

Witnesses described the chaos that erupted at the event following the gunshot. Kirk’s death has raised concerns about safety at political events and the ongoing debates over gun control and free speech in America.
