Chido Maenzanise Clinches 25th Gold for Strongest Woman Title After Pulling Truck in Durban -Zimbabwean powerlifter Chido Maenzanise, hailing from Highfield, Harare, emerged victorious at the prestigious Strongman Contest held in Durban on Tuesday.

Maenzanise’s commanding performance earned her the top accolade, as she successfully executed a truck pull — a feat that had earlier overwhelmed several male competitors in the men’s division.

Meanwhile, on the domestic front, in 2023, Arnold Zikhali, widely acknowledged as Zimbabwe’s strongest man, once again captivated audiences with a jaw-dropping feat of endurance and muscular prowess.

In an exhibition held at the National Railways of Zimbabwe headquarters in Harare, Zikhali — a serving member of the Zimbabwe National Army — accomplished the extraordinary by dragging a 56-tonne loaded train wagon over a distance of 100 metres, relying solely on his shoulder strength.

Zikhali, aged 36, has earned legendary status for previous feats, including towing two 30-tonne trucks simultaneously.

These accomplishments, devoid of the enhancements of performance supplements or professional bodybuilding regimens, attest to his innate and meticulously cultivated strength.

“My strength is natural,” he remarked. “I do not rely on supplements. I derive my power from rigorous physical training and a high-caloric diet rich in fat. My leg strength alone is equivalent to 300 horsepower.”

His unconventional training regimen involves pressing against the rear of reversing commuter omnibuses, and his nutritional intake includes consuming up to 2kg of sadza and 2kg of meat in a single meal — often shortly after a pulling session.

“I require substantial fat intake post-performance,” he added. “If I do not consume it within the hour, I become irritable and physically destabilised.”
