CBD Chaos at 4AM: Driver Accuses Sex Worker of Key Heist

A Harare inDrive driver says he was forced to pay a locksmith after a sex worker allegedly took his car keys and demanded US$100 for their return, sparking a dramatic early-morning standoff along Nelson Mandela Avenue yesterday.

The driver, who requested anonymity, said he had offered the woman Miriam Mahove temporary shelter in his car around 4am while waiting for clients.

“I was waiting for clients when this lady approached my vehicle,” he said.

“I eventually fell asleep while she sat on the passenger seat.

“When I woke up, I realised my car keys were missing and she denied taking them.”

He said Mahove demanded US$100 for the keys, prompting him to call a locksmith who charged US$30 for a replacement set.

“She was the only one in my vehicle, yet she refused to return the keys and demanded money instead,” he said.

“For the record, I did not hire her for sex, as some people were suggesting.”

Mahove, dressed in what witnesses described as a revealing outfit, dismissed the allegations and insisted there had been no sexual transaction.

“I was with him during the night, he is my friend,” she said.

“When we were about to leave for my house in Belvedere, he claimed to have misplaced his car keys.

“We never had sexual intercourse, contrary to what some people are saying.”
