Cameroon’s 92-Year-Old President Paul Biya Wins Eighth Term, Set to Rule Until 2032 – Cameroon’s veteran leader, President Paul Biya, 92, has been declared the winner of the recent presidential elections by the country’s Constitutional Council, amid widespread controversy.
Biya, the world’s oldest serving head of state, reportedly secured 53.7% of the vote, defeating his main challenger, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who garnered 35.2%.

The announcement paves the way for Biya’s eighth consecutive term in office, having first assumed power in 1982.
Bakary had earlier claimed victory, accusing the Constitutional Council of preparing to announce a manipulated result.
Tensions escalated in several parts of the country following the polls. In Garoua, near Bakary’s residence, there were reports of deadly shootings, while clashes between security forces and civilians in the commercial city of Douala left at least four people dead on Sunday.
The unrest has forced the closure of most shops and schools in the capital, Yaoundé, as authorities brace for potential protests.
