Bulawayo Woman Accused of Forging Hospital Documents in Bold Bank Scam

BULAWAYO – A 22-year-old Bulawayo woman has been arraigned before the courts over allegations of forging hospital documents to fraudulently claim funds from ZB Bank.
Zibusiso Ncube, a resident of Shivi Building, appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Beverly Madzikatire, facing forgery charges.
She was granted bail set at US$250 and remanded out of custody until May 28.
The complainant in the matter is 55-year-old Sikhangele Chikoma, representing ZB Bank.
According to the prosecution led by Sehliselo Khumalo, the alleged offence occurred on October 17, 2024, at ZB Bank in Bulawayo.
Ncube is accused of submitting falsified documents, including a forged Mpilo Central Hospital letterhead, counterfeit date stamp and a fraudulent medical bill purportedly signed by Dr Ngonidzashe Frank Chikomo.
However, the doctor had not authorised or issued the documents.
Authorities believe Ncube intended to use the fraudulent paperwork to claim hospital expenses from the financial institution, potentially leading to financial losses for the bank.
The case sheds light on the growing issue of financial fraud affecting institutions.
Similar cases have previously been reported, prompting banks to tighten verification processes to curb fraudulent claims.
Chronicle reports that Ncube now awaits further legal proceedings, with the court expected to determine the outcome of the forgery allegations.
