Bulawayo Heist Squad Nabbed

An eight-member gang terrorizing Bulawayo is facing justice after being hauled before the Regional Magistrate’s Court on Monday for a spree of armed robberies.

The suspects, including illegal forex dealers Elvis Charakupa (40) and Khulumani Moyo (51), alongside Mavrick Dube (32), Mongameli Moyo (27), Nkosilomusa Dube (31), Conilias Chigara (24), Mabhena Qhawe (43), and Vumani Msipa (31), are linked to 10 violent heists spanning February to November. They’re accused of stealing over $5,000 and ZAR120,000, injuring several victims along the way.

Their attacks targeted fuel stations and homes. On February 19, they shot a security guard at a Mpopoma fuel station. In April and November, they raided Kelvin North stations, leaving staff traumatized and stealing cash, cellphones, and even disabling CCTV. Bulawayo Heist Squad Nabbed

Their luck ran out on November 20, when public tips led to Charakupa’s arrest, unmasking the gang. Police seized vehicles and a loaded firearm.

Remanded in custody, the gang will face trial on December 6 and 9.
