Bulawayo Detective Fatally Shot Pursuing Robbery Suspect
BULAWAYO – A detective with Team Lozikeyi, the all-female Bulawayo police detective unit, was fatally shot last night while pursuing an armed robbery suspect in the Pumula South suburb.
Detective Cassandra Hove (32) was part of the pioneering unit launched on July 5, 2025, to tackle complex criminal cases in Bulawayo.
The unit has made significant strides in addressing serial rape and robbery cases.
Named after Queen Lozikeyi Dlodlo, who led the 1896 Ndebele uprising against British colonialism, Team Lozikeyi comprises highly trained female officers dedicated to keeping Bulawayo safe.
Detective Hove’s tragic death has sent shockwaves through the community, which admired her bravery and dedication.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
