Brother-in-law’s innocent greeting turns deadly
Three Gweru brothers get 30-year jail terms each for murdering their 31-year-old brother-in-law who had recognized them as in-laws due to a family connection, leading to a fatal fight at a local shop.
Zamani Ndlovu (45) Mehluli Ndlovu (36) and Mpilwenzima Ndlovu (33) appeared before the High Court in Gweru facing murder charges yesterday.
Circumstances are that on June 4, 2023, the accused and the deceased drank beer together at a local shop, where the deceased referred to the accused as his brothers-in-laws, noting one of them had a child with his sister.
The court heard that the accused persons reacted angrily, assaulting the deceased with their fists and punching him all over his body.
It is alleged that after assaulting him, they struck him with a brick and then stabbed him in the thigh with a knife, resulting in the deceased’s death.
The accused persons were arrested by the police with help from witnesses.
