BREAKING: ZIMSEC Releases 2024 November Ordinary Level Results

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has announced the release of the 2024 November Ordinary Level examination results.

According to Professor Paul Mapfumo, Chairperson of ZIMSEC, the results will be available online starting today, January 17, 2025, at 1600 hrs.

Candidates’ results will be accessible to all candidates and authorised personnel online through the ZIMSEC portal accessed through the ZIMSEC Website ( www.zimsec.co.zw ).

The portal will be open for five days only. A total of 291,341 candidates sat for the November 2024 Ordinary Level examinations, representing a 7.85% increase from the 278,129 candidates who sat for the same examinations in 2023.

The national pass rate for November 2024 is 33.19%, with 66,130 candidates passing five or more subjects with a grade C or better. This represents a 3.78% increase from the 29.41% pass rate recorded in 2023.

The results also showed that 199,270 school candidates sat for the examinations, with 171,695 writing five or more subjects and 57,860 obtaining grade C or better in five or more subjects, yielding a percentage pass rate of 33.70%.

Private candidates also showed an improvement in their pass rate, with 92,071 candidates sitting for the examinations. Of these, 27,974 wrote five or more subjects, with 8,270 obtaining grade C or better in five or more subjects, yielding a percentage pass rate of 29.60%.

Female candidates performed slightly better than their male counterparts, with 154,391 female candidates sitting for the examinations. Of these, 104,930 wrote five or more subjects, with 35,203 passing five or more subjects, translating to a percentage pass rate of 33.54%.

Male candidates also showed a significant improvement in their pass rate, with 136,950 candidates sitting for the examinations.

Of these, 94,739 wrote five or more subjects, with 30,937 passing five or more subjects, translating to a percentage pass rate of 32.68%. Special needs candidates also performed well, with 323 candidates sitting for the examinations. Of these, 198 wrote five or more subjects, with 72 passing five or more subjects, yielding an overall percentage pass rate of 36.36%.

Heads of Examination Centres can collect the results for their respective schools/centres from the Provincial Offices starting Monday, January 20, 2025.

Professor Mapfumo expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders who collaborated with ZIMSEC, including the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, teachers, markers, and state security agencies. “The combined effort led to successful examination sessions in 2024,” he said.
