Beitbridge Man Rapes and Bribes 12-Year-Old Girl
A 26-year-old man from Beitbridge has been arrested on charges of raping a 12-year-old girl and attempting to bribe her with R50 for her silence.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe reported that the accused appeared before the Beitbridge Magistrates Court facing a serious charge of rape.
According to court documents, the incident occurred in June when the man allegedly lured the girl to an unfinished house in the area, where the assault took place. Following the incident, the girl began to experience unusual discharge.
The matter came to light on July 23 when the girl’s mother noticed that her dress was wet and that she was having difficulty walking, accompanied by complaints of stomach pain.
Concerned, the mother asked her daughter what was wrong, to which the girl revealed that she had been raped by the accused.
The mother promptly took the girl to the police, resulting in the filing of a report and the subsequent arrest of the man.
He has since been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court again on October 19 for the continuation of the trial.
