Beitbridge man jailed 16 months for stealing $279.30 from In-laws ‘safe

BEITBRIDGE – Nigel Masona, a Beitbridge resident has been sentenced to an effective 16 months in prison for allegedly breaking into his in-law’s house and stealing $279.30 from a safe.

The accused (23) was arraigned before Beitbridge Magistrate’s Court facing charges of aggravated unlawful entry and theft.

The Court proved that on October 20, 2024, the complainant secured his residence by closing windows and locking doors before departing with his wife.

However, the neighbor later revealed that the suspicious intruder was actually the complainant’s brother-in-law.

Upon returning, the complainant discovered that the door had been forcibly opened, the safe broken into and the specified amount was missing from the house.

The complainant filed a police report which led to the successful apprehension Masona.
