Baby Found Abandoned in a Plastic Bag
Durban faced another heart-wrenching tragedy on Tuesday morning when a foetus was discovered dumped in a plastic bag on Montpelier Road, Morningside.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson reported that emergency responders arrived to find the South African Police Service (SAPS) and security officials already on the scene. Inside the plastic bag, they found the lifeless foetus, which was declared deceased on-site.
The circumstances surrounding this “horrific incident” remain unclear, and authorities have launched an investigation.
This marks the third such devastating incident in recent weeks. Last month, a foetus was found discarded in a rubbish bin on JB Marks Road, Glenwood, and another newborn, still with its umbilical cord attached, was discovered lifeless on Bulbul Drive, Chatsworth.
The recurring cases of abandoned infants have sent shockwaves through the community, sparking urgent calls for action and awareness to address the underlying issues leading to these tragedies.
