Arsenal Triumphs 3-1 Against Bayern Munich in Champions League Victory

Mikel Arteta has praised Bayern Munich as the “best team in Europe,” but after a commanding victory against them, many wonder if Arsenal has emerged as serious contenders in the Champions League.

This season, Arsenal has been performing exceptionally well, winning 16 matches, drawing two, and losing only one across all competitions.

Remarkably, they have also won their first five Champions League games for the first time since the 2005-06 season, which was when they reached their only final in the tournament.

With this win, Arsenal remains the only team with a perfect record in the Champions League this season, ending a five-game streak of losses against the German champions that dates back to 2015.

Former Arsenal and England defender Matt Upson noted on BBC Radio 5Live that the confidence in the team is palpable.

He remarked that while Arsenal might have moments of struggle during games, their overall play maintains a consistent foundation.

“Bayern Munich was undefeated this season prior to facing Arsenal, having lost only three of their last 52 Champions League games,” Upson explained.

Arteta commended his players for their outstanding performance against Bayern, calling them “incredible.”

He acknowledged the hard work the team puts into preparing for each match and emphasized that, despite this victory, they must focus on their upcoming game against Chelsea.

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, awarded player of the match by UEFA, expressed his belief that this victory marks a significant step for Arsenal in their quest for a trophy since 2020. He praised Bayern’s tactical strength but noted that Arsenal rose to the challenge.

“There are many leaders in the team now, and we are taking it one game at a time,” Rice said. “There’s a hunger to win every match, but we must remain grounded as there is still a long way to go.” Sky Sports News
