Zvitsva faced four counts of rape, five counts of attempted murder, and one count of robbery. The convictions stem from a series of violent incidents that allegedly occurred in Guruve and Raffingora between March and October last year.
The court previously ordered a mental examination, after which Zvitsva was declared mentally fit to stand trial.
According to court proceedings, prosecutors alleged that several of the attacks were carried out while the accused was armed with weapons including a machete and a knife. Some of the incidents reportedly targeted victims in isolated areas while they were carrying out daily activities such as herding cattle, fetching water, or sleeping at their homes.
The sentencing brings to a close one of the most disturbing criminal cases heard before the Harare Magistrates Court in recent months.
