Aguero: Mbappe Signing Doesn’t Guarantee Real Madrid Champions League Glory
Former Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has weighed in on Real Madrid’s chances in the Champions League, warning that Kylian Mbappe’s arrival alone doesn’t guarantee success.
Real Madrid, who lifted their record-extending 15th Champions League title last season, added Mbappe to their squad on a free transfer this summer.
Since joining the LaLiga giants, the French star has made an immediate impact, scoring four goals in his first six matches.
Speaking on behalf of Stake, Aguero acknowledged Madrid as one of the favorites to win the competition but stressed that teamwork, not individual brilliance, will determine their fate.
“You can never count Real Madrid out. Mbappe’s arrival only makes them more dangerous,” Aguero said. “I think he’s a strong contender for La Liga’s top scorer, but one player alone doesn’t win trophies. It’s the team effort that counts.”
Aguero also noted the intense competition in this year’s Champions League, saying several top teams are in the race and will fiercely battle for the coveted title.
Real Madrid, with Mbappe leading the attack, are expected to make a deep run in the tournament, but as Aguero highlighted, success in Europe’s premier competition requires much more than star power.
