Adultery Scandal Rocks ZAOGA: Senior Church Leaders Removed

A disciplinary shake-up has taken place within the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA) after three high-ranking church officials were suspended with immediate effect.
The church leadership, under SADOP 91, announced the action, citing concerns over personal issues that need resolution before the individuals can resume ministerial duties.
The affected officials are Secretary General Mishael Nyambo, Deputy Secretary General Steve Simukai, and Overseer Mrs. Talent Mayemu.
In a formal statement, SADOP 91 emphasized that these individuals are currently unfit to preach or minister on the pulpit until certain issues are clarified, as unresolved matters could defile the sacred space.
The disciplinary notice reads:
> “This serves to inform you that as SADOP 91, we have taken steps to put the following people under discipline with immediate effect: > 1) Secretary General Mishael Nyambo > 2) Deputy Secretary General Steve Simukai > 3) Overseer Mrs. Talent Mayemu.
“The above-mentioned persons must take time to sort out their personal life issues.
“They are currently not fit or in a position to preach or minister on the pulpit of God until certain issues are clarified, lest the pulpit be defiled.
“We ask them to graciously step down from the sacred offices they hold and turn to the Lord in repentance.”
The statement further referenced Bible verses to justify the disciplinary action:
> Jude 1:12 – “These are spots in your love feasts, while they feast with you without fear, serving only themselves.
They are clouds without water, carried about by the winds, late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots.”
> > 1 Corinthians 5:11 – “But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous or an idolater, or a reviler or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person.”
Among those suspended, Deputy Secretary General Steve Simukai—who is the son-in-law of the late Archbishop Ezekiel Guti—has been linked to allegations of adultery, which reportedly contributed to his removal from leadership.
The news has sparked discussions within the ZAOGA community, with congregants calling for strict adherence to biblical principles.
According to the statement, SADOP 91 maintains that the disciplinary action was taken out of love and reverence for God, following the example set by their spiritual fathers.
Church officials expressed their hope that the affected individuals will use this period for repentance and reflection before seeking restoration.
Ignite Media Zimbabwe has also reported on the controversy, highlighting the significance of ethical leadership within the church and how this development impacts ZAOGA’s governance.
The suspensions have fueled conversations about maintaining accountability in faith-based institutions.
As the matter unfolds, ZAOGA members are closely watching for further clarifications and decisions regarding the future of these leaders.
Church authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining spiritual integrity within their ranks.
