A Decade of Savings Turned to Ashes: Man’s Dream Ferrari Burns Down Within an Hour

A devastating incident unfolded on a Tokyo expressway when a newly purchased Ferrari 458 Spider caught fire just an hour after delivery, reducing a long-awaited dream to ashes.
The owner, 33-year-old music producer Honkon, had saved for ten years to afford the luxury vehicle, valued at Rs 2.5 crore(US$300,000).
Fortunately, he escaped unharmed, but his dream car was destroyed beyond recognition.
The fire erupted as Honkon was driving on the Shuto Expressway, forcing him to stop and quickly exit the vehicle.
Firefighters arrived promptly and extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes, but only a small portion of the front bumper remained intact.
Authorities confirmed there was no collision before the fire, and the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the cause.
Initial reports suggest the fire may have started in the engine compartment, though no official conclusions have been made.
Honkon expressed his heartbreak on Twitter, writing, “My Ferrari burned to ashes an hour after delivery. I bet I’m the only one in all of Japan to experience this kind of trouble.”
The shocking incident has drawn widespread sympathy, with Twitter users reacting in disbelief and jokingly suggesting they carpool next time.
The investigation remains ongoing, with Ferrari owners worldwide following the case closely.
According to NDTV, previous incidents of Ferrari fires have raised concerns among owners, though the automaker has not yet made a public statement regarding Honkon’s case.
As speculation grows, many are wondering whether this was an isolated event or part of a broader issue affecting similar models.
Despite his loss, Honkon remains grateful that the accident resulted in no injuries.
