Man Convicted and Sentenced to 20 Years for Rape of Daughter
A 37-year-old man was convicted and sentenced to 20 years of effective imprisonment for the rape of his 13-year-old daughter by the Bindura Regional Magistrates’ Court.
The incident took place on November 1, 2025, when the offender lured his daughter into their home’s bedroom. According to court proceedings, he violently grabbed her by the neck and assaulted her. The victim’s mother intervened after hearing her daughter’s screams, discovering the alarming scene upon entering the room.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) has condemned the attack as a severe violation of parental duty and a fundamental breach of the child’s rights. They emphasized that the 20-year prison sentence reflects the gravity of the crime and serves as a warning against child sexual abuse.
The NPAZ called on communities to remain vigilant in protecting children and urged anyone with suspicions of abuse to report it immediately.
