$3 480 worth of dagga lands Karoi man in jail

KAROI – A 49-year-old Magunje resident was sentenced to six years in prison for possessing 13.25 kilograms of dagga, valued at $3 480.
Tasiyana Zingore from Nyamufarira village has been convicted by Karoi Magistrates Court for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs as defined in section 157(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
According to State papers, on August 14, 2024, police on patrol received a tip-off that the accused person was in possession of dagga at his homestead.
Acting on the information, detectives raided Zingore’s homestead and recovered two sacks of loose dagga weighing 13,12 kilograms.
When asked to produce a licence authorising him to deal in dagga, the accused failed to comply, resulting in his arrest.
