$200 debt lands Soldier in Court
CHINHOYI – Shepherd Musarurwa, a 29-year-old soldier from Chinhoyi was hauled before the Chinhoyi Magistrate’s Court for failing to pay maintenance for his minor child which has accrued to $200.
According to the State, on August 21, 2024, the accused person was ordered to pay a monthly maintenance of $100 by Chinhoyi Civil Court for the upkeep of his child.
However, Musarurwa defaulted on these payments from August and September 2024, accumulating arrears of $200.
A police report was made, leading to the arrest of the accused person.
The court sentenced the accused person to 3 months’ imprisonment, but the sentence was wholly suspended on condition that he pays all the outstanding arrears.
