1,000 Fed as Masowe Echishanu Rolls Out Major Donation

By Loyd Matare

Johane Masowe YeChishanu leader Madzibaba Simbarashe Nengomasha yesterday distributed close to 1,000 food hampers, including mealie-meal and cooking oil, to both church members and non-apostolic residents of Unit J, Chitungwiza in an outreach event that blended charity, faith and politics.

The donations, handed out at his Canaan Shrine, drew people living with disabilities, the elderly, and struggling families unable to fend for themselves.

The initiative also reaffirmed the church’s public support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa, with Madzibaba Nengomasha pledging continuous prayers for national stability and food security.

“We are here for national service, which is to pray for the nation,” he said.

“The President’s mantra says no one and no place should be left behind. We are praying for more rains so that hunger is eliminated…mvura yekuChina haipe zhizha mu Zimbabwe”

He dismissed speculation about harbouring political ambitions, reiterating that his responsibility remained spiritual, not partisan.

“I cannot be a Man of God, an MP, and a councillor. We should pray for those in office,” he said, adding that his congregation would keep praying for President Mnangagwa “whom God chose to lead us.”

Grateful beneficiaries described the intervention as timely relief amid rising food insecurity in high-density suburbs.

“This bag of mealie-meal means my children will eat tonight,” said Agnes Muzvondiwa, a Unit J resident who is not a church member.

“We thank Madzibaba for remembering everyone, even those outside his church.”

A man living with a disability, Tafadzwa Makodza, said the gesture restored dignity for vulnerable families.

“These donations came when many of us had nothing. We truly appreciate the philanthropic works of our leader,” he said.

The outreach follows another major community project by Madzibaba Nengomasha the recent construction of a clinic in Makurumure, Hwedza further cementing his growing influence beyond spiritual circles.
